Thus began the re-installing of windows several times and trying every trick in the book software wise, nothing worked. Initially I thought the GPU was bad somehow, couldn't play Elden Ring as it'd crash straight up on loading into the game (some time's on boot), wasn't the GPU so googled it. Stress tested GPU (cause I was most excited about that) and everything seemed good. The actual building took me a WHILE (I was going hard on cable management), like 5+ hours was spend sitting, thinking, making sure I wasn't fucking shit up (it had been a couple years since I build one last) then came posting and installing windows, all of that was fine. It took me a WEEK to get it to be fully functional. My latest one (finished half a week ago). I'm much more familiar with software than hardware, so it's all uphill from here. We get it, you have an IQ over 50, stop rubbing it in my face.ĮDIT 2: I finally made it to POST! Thank the gods. What's the worst "I need to start over" moment you've experienced? What lessons did you learn in the process?Įdit: alright, at this point I feel like some of y'all are just bragging. I'm lucky enough to enjoy this process, but imagine if this felt like work! I'd be crying right now. which means all the work I just did needs to be taken apart- again. But I just realized the cooler requires me to put a backplate on the motherboard. I finally finished installing my GPU and doing cable management, and I was about to put in the CPU and CPU cooler. Had to unscrew it from the back of the motherboard, which of course means the whole system has to come apart. Earlier, I'd put the PC together about halfway, but ended up having to take it apart to get rid of a panel cover on my motherboard that was blocking me from installing the GPU. It's been ~5 years since my previous build, so I'm pretty much doing it all again for the first time (but with bonus déjà vu).
